Women’s Only Programs

With the epidemic of domestic violence currently plaguing Australia, helping women learn to protect themselves is a passion of Ms. Mel’s. Hapkido is the perfect martial art for self defense, so come learn techniques to keep yourself safe in a non-threatening and supportive environment.

Two different options for training in a Women’s only environment are available - Women’s Only Self Defense class or Women’s Self Defense Workshops.

Women’s Only Self Defense (10 wks)

Being based in the traditional martial art of Hapkido, the Women’s Only Hapkido/Self Defense program has a curriculum consisting of different areas of study - Joint Locks, Throws, Kicks, Weapons, Strikes, Grappling, and Fundamentals. Unlike traditional Hapkido however, in this program we will be less concerned with gaining rank, and more concerned with developing the essential skills to defend oneself. We will learn only the most applicable techniques for domestic violence prevention and defense, and train them until they are automatic.

Program Length: 10 weeks

Class Time: Fridays 5-6pm

Ages: 14+

Class Focus: Strength, Confidence, Fitness, Self Defense Skills

Women’s Self Defense Workshops

While still focused on essential self defense training and development, the Women’s Self Defense workshops are shorter programs designed to give participants a few very important concepts and techniques.

Workshop Length: 3 hours, 2-5pm
